No, this isn’t the story of any fighting or wrestling match, it is a WWE fighting game found easily on the WWE fighting game 2K series, which is a dream come true for wrestling fans. WWE 2K is a video game series of developed by Visual Concepts and Yuke’s, and published by 2K Sports. These series of WWE fighting games feature the professional wrestling match types, storylines, and playable characters.


So let’s get into the history, shall we? The WWE fighting game series was originally named SmackDown!, after WWE’s SmackDown television program. The first release in the series was WWF SmackDown! in March 2000, which was an exclusive playstation game. The WWE fighting game series was later renamed as just simply WWE, starting from 2011 and 2012.Take-Two confirmed the acquisition of the WWE brand in February 2013, retaining the services of Yuke’s and the THQ staff that worked on the WWE series. WWE 2K14 is the first game to be released under the 2K brand.

WWE 2K19

The latest version of the WWE fighting game 2K series is WWE 2K19 which was released last year. This version ditches the simulation style gameplay for a faster, more fluid experience. WWE 2K19 features many different returning and new game modes, including the Tower mode, My career mode and the 2k Showcase Mode; focusing on the career of Daniel Bryan.

Previous Versions

WWE 2K18, 2K17 and 2K16 are all notable games that brought something new to the WWE universe and video games in general. WWE 2K18 was the first game to be released on eighth generation hardware and WWE 2K17 was considered very special because of Goldberg returning as a pre-order bonus character, much to the delight of fans worldwide.


In a nutshell, if you’re stuck with a Playstation 3 or XBOX 360 then your best best would be to get the WWE 2K17, otherwise you would be better of getting the latest version of the game, WWE 2K19 which is much more advanced in terms of gameplay, graphics and story.
